Dismantling War, Racism, and Suicide

Happy New Year! Let us all pray that this one is better than the last one, shall we? To commemorate the experience, I would like to introduce you to the first edition of Visual Orphans, a weekly newsletter that is an open forum for ideas about art, politics, culture, and postmodern critical thinking. Each week, we promise to present to you the very best in diverse and thought-provoking information. So sit back, relax, and enjoy! Okay, so you are probably asking yourself, right now "what is the difference between Visual Orphans, and any other junk mail derived newsletter?" Absolutely everything! We are here to provide humor, recollection, and even some flashbacks, along the way. Believe me, we are not afraid to make complete uttering fools of ourselves, for your bemusement.

The third year of this millennium is going to be a very exciting year, if nothing else. Prepare yourself for war, racism, and suicide. Does anybody remember that marketing scam to sell batteries, generators, and dehydrated foods, called Y2k? Were not we all building bomb-shelters out of the family room in the basement? Where are we, now? Post-9/11, post-Enron, and World-Com, post-California energy crisis, post-election 2002, where are we now? I would have to say that we live in a much more frightening place. Click your heels together, three times, and repeat after me: "There is no place like home." Is it working yet?

To keep you, at least, mildly entertained, we have recruited the best in literary voices of the cutting edge. Are you an artist? An aspiring politician? An absolute misfit in public? If you are clinically insane, criminally institutionalized, or just plain kooky, we have a place for you! Look for some intriguing guest columnists in the following year, including a confessed murder witness, an ex-Catholic radio personality, and a convicted white-collar door-to-door vacuum salesman. Take your pick, we are all revolutionaries, around here. I suppose that we will need to form some sort of alliance with a counter-revolutionary group, next week, just to keep the freedom of speech robust.

So, welcome home! Sign up, be one of the counted, and join the membership game. Come on. You already have enough membership to spread around for three people. Trade in a couple of those corporate sponsored pieces of lamination for a membership into the most elitist club on the planet: the people who give a shit. It is easy. Keep reading. Tune in, focus, and be real. Say what you mean. Do what you mean. Look inward.

Come back.

We will be waiting.

Until now is then, D. J. Razee
